Fostering is open to people from any background, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, culture, sexuality, gender identity, marital status and the type of home they live in.
You can foster and work, provided you are available to meet the needs of any children or young people you will be looking after
You can foster if you have pets (as long as they are safe around children)
You can foster if you have your own children living with you
You can foster if you don’t have children of your own
Qualities we look for in a foster carer:
Patience, understanding, empathy and compassion
Being open-minded, non-judgemental and accepting
Good sense of humour and an ability to have fun!
Your home and lifestyle
You can live in any type of housing and foster, provided it is safe, secure, warm, and clean.
You do need to have a spare bedroom in your home.
Lots of our foster carers work as well as foster, and they balance working with the fostering role. When caring for younger children this includes taking them to and from school, trips to spend time with their family members, activities, medical appointments etc.
You will also need to be a UK resident or have leave to remain in the UK.
