Supported lodgings is a great alternative to fostering for young people.
It involves providing a room in your home to a young person aged 16 or over, giving them an opportunity to live in a safe family environment.
Supported lodgings hosts help to teach life skills in preparation for them to move on to live independently.
It is an incredibly important and rewarding role which helps young people with care experience and/or are at risk of homelessness.

What do you need to become a supported lodgings host?
All you need is a spare bedroom in your home, and a supportive and safe environment where you can teach young people the skills for living independently.
This involves things such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting, plus you will be expected to support them with accessing education and training, or finding employment.
You are able to carry on working full time as well as being a supported lodgings host.
